Winter Weather Advisory: Inclement Weather and Flexible Instruction Day Protocols

As winter approaches, our school district is prepared to address potential snow and inclement weather challenges. We want to ensure all parents, guardians, students, and staff are fully informed about our winter weather protocols and the two strategic options for snow days.

Snow Day Options

  1. Traditional Inclement Weather Days

This year's calendar includes two built-in "traditional" inclement weather days. On these days, schools will be closed entirely, and students are encouraged to enjoy winter activities safely at home.

  2. Flexible Instruction Days (FID)

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has approved our district to implement up to five Flexible Instruction Days. These innovative days allow us to:

    • Conduct asynchronous virtual learning.

    • Maintain academic progress.

    • Ensure continuous education during significant weather events.

Communication Protocol

We are committed to clear and timely communication regarding school schedule changes. Parents, guardians, students, and staff can expect proactive notification through multiple channels, including:

  • The district website/app

  • Automated phone/text systems

  • Email systems

Our primary goal remains the safety of our students and staff while minimizing academic disruption. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during winter weather challenges.
